As of today, our investor community has access to selected investment opportunities presented through a brand-new proposal page and a fully digital investment process. Investing in startups across Europe has never been easier.
Verve Ventures is the place to invest in cutting-edge innovation across Europe. With more than CHF 100 million invested through Verve Ventures in the past years, we are proud to have built a strong community of outstanding private and institutional investors.
Despite many classic venture capitalists priding themselves on investing in the future, actual startup investing often remains a very manual and chaotic process. Our mission is to remove these old-school barriers to startup investing, letting you focus on finding the startup that fits your investment thesis.
That’s why we’re releasing a simpler, more digital experience for our investors. For all new financing rounds presented on Verve Ventures, you’ll be able to:
– Enjoy a cleaner, simplified investment proposal – on any device.
– Make your investment decision fully online without paperwork.
– Execute your investment contracts online, with legally valid digital signatures.
– Attend investor meetings remotely via video conference or watch the recording afterwards
New and improved investment proposal
The first thing you’ll notice when you visit our platform is the all-new investment proposal. While you can continue to enjoy the detailed company descriptions like you are used to, we have visually simplified the company description. This makes the new proposal our fastest investment experience ever, and works beautifully across not just desktop browsers, but also tablets and smartphone screens – we know many investors browse startup profiles on the move (or these days, on the home office couch).
At the top, you will see two tabs, a Summary section that highlights the key facts about the case as well as the team and their trusted partners. Here you will also find the details of the investor meeting for the respective startup.
In the Details section, you will find a new navigation section on the left, leading you through the detailed description of the company’s product, market environment and business model. You will see that some information, such as detailed financials, is only available once you indicate an interest. To take a look at confidential due diligence documents, you will need to first accept a non-disclosure agreement.
Fully digital investment process
Gone are the days of printing and scanning term sheets or non-disclosure agreements. We know you might not always be able to work with physical files at a moment’s notice, and these days the office printer is probably far away. So we made some key changes to the investment process to allow you to evaluate and make investment decisions on your device of choice.
First, there is no longer a physical term sheet to sign. Once you have indicated an interest and been approved by the entrepreneur, you are granted access to the terms of the round and the financials. At this point you can commit to invest and reserve your spot in the round. We will show you the key terms of this investment, such as the company valuation, and then ask you to confirm that you will invest in this financing round with the click of a button. Of course, the detailed term sheet will remain available.
Additionally, for access to the full due diligence documentation for this round, we will ask you to accept a non-disclosure agreement with the startup. To do so, navigate to the due diligence section of the “Details” tab and review the confidentiality terms.
Execute your investment contracts online
After a test with a selected group of investors, we have now enabled digital signing of the final investment contracts for all financing rounds. You can complete your investment by signing all required contracts and documentation fully online, with a simple video call. When we send you the link to generate your investment contracts, you will be prompted to choose between digital signing or signing paper contracts by hand.
The digital signing procedure should take a few minutes and can be done from the comfort of your home (or) office, provided you have a good internet connection, a working webcam or phone/tablet camera, your biometric national ID or passport and your phone nearby. You will be connected to an agent in a Swiss call center who will walk you through the process.
Investor meetings live on video
We know you all live busy lives and for a while now have offered recordings of all investor meetings. With current measures in place to combat the coronavirus, we have moved to a fully digital investor meeting and will offer videoconferencing for each meeting. Once you confirm your attendance, we will share the Zoom dial-in details with you.
One more thing
Thank you. We worked with a large number of very active and newly joined investors from our community to develop and test these improvements, and look forward to your continued feedback.
