Mobbot, a pioneering firm in the domain of 3D printing concrete, has raised CHF 2.9 million from Mutschler Ventures (lead), investiere, Swiss Immo Lab and Capital Risque Fribourg. investiere contributed CHF 1 million to this round.

Mobbot will use this new capital to accelerate the development and commercialization of its patented mobile robot for 3D-concrete printing. The funds will be invested in R&D and continuous product innovations, and to strengthen the marketing and sales organization.

Mobbot offers the first robotic and automation platform to print concrete infrastructure directly at the final location. Utility infrastructure products such as cable chambers, retaining walls and beams can be produced up to twenty times faster and forty percent cheaper than with traditional fabrication methods. This approach also contributes to reducing material waste and CO2 emissions by up to thirty percent.

With this financing round, the company is also announcing two appointments to its board of directors, Sylvie Mutschler, Investor Director and President of Mutschler Venture and Vincent Bieri, Co-founder of Nexthink, technologist and startup advisor. (For the story how Sylvie got to know the founder and why she invested, read our interview.)

“This funding which is essential to support the market expansion of our system was enabled by investiere. I am also very happy that both Sylvie and Vincent will contribute their impressive experience and success in scaling up new technologies and businesses.”, said Agnès Petit, Mobbot CEO and Founder. (Read our interview with Agnès about how she wants to shake up the construction industry here.)

Why we invested in Mobbot:

The pilot projects and sales of concrete elements in 2019 and 2020 have demonstrated that the fast and flexible approach is highly sought after and that Mobbot can deliver a high-quality product to exact specifications on time. Mobbot is well-positioned to tackle similar elements to cable chambers for application in energy and water, and eventually, buildings, which is a massive market opportunity.

“The Mobbot team is visionary and grounded at the same time”, says investment manager Susanne Schorsch.
