Software security company Code Intelligence has successfully completed a EUR 2 million financing round led by LBBW Venture Capital alongside OCCIDENT and Verve Ventures – following its seed round in September 2018 led by High-Tech Gründerfonds alongside Digital Hub Bonn.

The IT security company from Bonn will accelerate the development of its software testing platform and simultaneously define the new standard for software security.

“Our mission is to bring cutting-edge testing technologies to the mainstream”, says Sergej Dechand, CEO and Co-Founder of Code Intelligence.

Code Intelligence uses the most advanced approach available to develop automated security testing for software applications. The startup provides a special class of dynamic software testing known as ‘intelligent fuzzing’. It executes the software code while feeding it smartly generated input until it crashes to identify weak spots. It can run thousands of tests simultaneously in a single second. Until now this testing approach required very specialized security engineers to manually tune the algorithms and frameworks to run with the software under test. With the Code Intelligence testing platform, these frameworks and tools become usable and are combined in a single platform and thus no longer are accessible by software giants like Google but also for traditional companies with more complex development processes.

“Cybersecurity is an investment topic that has attracted much attention recently and will only grow in importance with increasing digitalization”, says Romeo Bütler, Investment Manager at Verve Ventures.

In this interview, scientific advisor Prof. Matthew Smith explains how Code Intelligence makes the software world safer.
