Avrios was founded in 2015 by Andreas Brenner, Robin Guldener, and Roger Jäggi. They have developed fleet management software that gathers all the necessary information in one place. Considering that running costs per car and year exceed 10’000 EUR for a company, managing a fleet with a ring binder or out-of-date Excel sheets isn’t a very sophisticated approach. Avrios replaces this chaos with software that provides a clear overview of a company’s fleet, software that is based on a large corpus of fleet management knowledge and gives companies recommendations on how to manage their leasing contracts better, reduce fuel consumption or make their fleet more efficient. A digital solution such as Avrios also helps companies managing the transition to a more sustainable fleet of electric vehicles: The software provides transparency in the jungle of subsidies, purchase incentives, and tax savings, and simplifies the management of charging times and drivers.

When Verve Ventures first invested in Avrios, the company already had a proven business model and decent recurring revenues. “Avrios has a strong value proposition in a very large market that relies on outdated tools. We were convinced that the results-driven founding team and the experienced board would be able to scale the company and build upon their first-mover advantage”, says Michael Blank, who heads Verve’s investment team.

Battery Ventures bought Avrios at the same time as Vimcar, a complementary Berlin-based startup founded in 2013. Its goal is to create a large (together, Vimcar and Avrios employ more than 250 people) pan-European digital fleet management champion. Battery sees significant growth potential for the European fleet-management market, where businesses are increasingly choosing to digitize fleet operations to cope with rising labor and fuel costs.
